Food & Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
A Global Team for Local Initiatives Partner
FAO is an intergovernmental organization focused on achieving food security for all, to make sure people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. Their three main goals are eradicating hunger, eliminating poverty, and sustainably managing and utilizing natural resources. The Department of International Development (DFID) leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty and has funded FAO to implement the Innovative Agricultural Solutions (IAS) project
Their support on the IAS project is allowing GTLI to implement a program to improve food security and nutrition; increase sustainable intensification of crop production; and improve preparedness for, and effective response to, food and agricultural threats and emergencies.
